Introduction

What Incentive is built for

Incentive is a points-based routine app for people who want to balance responsibilities and rewards in one clear system. Tasks earn points, wishes cost points, and the app keeps the full history so progress stays visible over time.

The main task list is built for quick daily use. You can add tasks, assign point values, mark them complete, reorder them, schedule repeating items, and keep an eye on streaks and history.

The wishes side works as the reward layer. You set a point cost for each wish, and Incentive only allows a wish to be granted when enough points are available. That makes the reward system feel concrete instead of arbitrary.

The app also includes notifications, multilingual support, themes, color schemes, local data storage, and optional cloud-based sharing workflows. For families or shared setups, curator approval can be enabled so requests and rewards can be reviewed before they take effect.

Daily workflow
Open the task list, complete tasks to earn points, then move to wishes when a reward is available. The app is designed to keep that loop fast and visible.

How the daily point loop works

Incentive is organized around a simple but strict flow: effort earns points, and rewards spend them.

  1. Add tasks with a clear title and point value.
  2. Complete a task to increase the current point balance.
  3. Use the wishes list as a reward catalog with point costs.
  4. Grant a wish only when the user has enough points available.
  5. Review the history log to see what was completed and what was redeemed.

This structure works well for children, families, self-management routines, or any setup where visible cause-and-effect improves motivation.

Shared use
Curator workflows make it possible to review requests, approvals, and shared changes when the app is used across multiple people or devices.

Curator approval and shared setup

Incentive includes optional cloud-backed sharing features for setups where someone else should review or approve changes.

  • Curator inbox support shows pending requests that need action.
  • Approval can be required for task or wish changes in shared workflows.
  • Your profile name is used so approvals and requests can be traced clearly.
  • Cloud sharing depends on iCloud and the app's CloudKit configuration.
  • If sharing is not enabled, the app still works locally as a private routine tracker.

Feature Guide

Complete support overview for Incentive

1. Tasks and point values

  • Each task has a title and a point reward.
  • Completing a task increases the point balance immediately.
  • You can edit, delete, and reorder tasks at any time.
  • The task screen also surfaces completion totals and streak information.

2. Wishes and reward spending

  • Each wish has a point cost instead of a reward value.
  • A wish can only be granted when enough points are available.
  • Granting a wish reduces the current point balance.
  • This keeps the reward system fair, visible, and consistent.

3. Repeating tasks and planning

  • Tasks can be configured as repeating items.
  • Scheduled repeat items appear in the repeat queue when relevant.
  • This is useful for weekly chores, homework routines, or recurring habits.
  • Planning features help keep the routine stable without re-entering the same tasks every time.

4. Notifications and reminders

  • Local notifications can remind users about tasks or routine moments.
  • If reminders are not allowed in iOS, they will not appear.
  • The app can continue without notification permission if preferred.
  • Reminder behavior is designed to support habits, not interrupt constantly.

5. History and progress tracking

  • The history log keeps a record of completed tasks and granted wishes.
  • Totals such as completed tasks and granted rewards are surfaced in the interface.
  • Streak tracking can highlight consistent routine behavior.
  • History makes it easier to audit how points were earned and spent.

6. Appearance and language

  • Incentive supports multiple app languages.
  • The app can follow the system appearance or use a fixed light or dark mode.
  • Multiple color schemes are available for readability and personal preference.
  • These settings change presentation only, not stored data.

7. Local storage and cloud sync

  • Core app data is stored locally on the device.
  • Cloud-related features depend on iCloud and CloudKit availability.
  • Shared workflows may require an Apple ID signed into iCloud.
  • If cloud features are unavailable, the local app experience still remains usable.

8. Curator inbox and approvals

  • Curator inbox counters indicate pending shared actions.
  • Rejected requests can be edited and submitted again.
  • A profile name is recommended before enabling approval-based workflows.
  • This makes shared task systems more controlled and easier to review.

Tips & Workflow

Best practices for a smooth setup

Begin with a manageable set of repeatable tasks. A short list with clear point values is easier to trust and maintain than a large list that changes every day.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and quick checks

Privacy

Data, permissions, and user control

Last updated: February 28, 2026.

Local storage first

  • Incentive stores routine data, points, and settings on the device.
  • This includes tasks, wishes, point totals, history, and personalization settings.
  • Without cloud sharing, the app can function as a self-contained local tool.

Optional permissions

  • Notification permission is optional and only used for reminders.
  • iCloud-related access is only relevant when using shared or cloud-backed workflows.
  • If these permissions are declined, core local task and reward features still remain available.

User controls

  • You can edit or delete tasks and wishes whenever needed.
  • You can change language, theme, and color scheme at any time.
  • You can disable notifications or stop using shared features through app and iOS settings.

Support details

  • When reporting an issue, include the exact app version shown in Settings.
  • That version information helps identify whether a bug is tied to a specific release.
  • For shared-workflow issues, describe whether the problem is local, notification-related, or iCloud-related.
